Hey!
It's been a little more than two weeks since I've arrived and I wanted to share some of the local places here that I've visited that I think are worth going to.
First of all - The Hamilton Gardens. Wow. Before I got here, I researched this place and knew that I needed to go. It's about a 35 minute walk from campus so me and a bunch of people decided to go last Sunday. It's a huge park where there are different themed gardens from places all over the world and it was stunning. We were there for a good four hours just admiring the beauty and walking around trying to find everything.
We also went to the Waikato Museum this week to learn more about the culture of Hamilton and it's right in town on the strip. There was a bunch of local art and items from the Maori culture and was beautifully set up.
Also on the strip is all of the bars and clubs. A big thing to do here on the weekends is go to the club or to the bar. Last weekend all of my friends and I split an Uber and headed to town. There are two places that I've enjoyed going to so far - The Outback and Bar101. The Outback is a huge club that most of the Uni kids go to (Sean Kingston played here this weekend) and Bar101 is a smaller club comparatively. Everyone loves to dance here and the nightlife is so welcoming and lively it's amazing. Plus, they take a lot of pictures during the night so it's fun to look on their Facebook page the next day and see all of the photos.
Another place that I visited right in Hamilton is the Hamilton park. It's a nice place to go and relax. There's the Waikato river flowing right through and a bunch of flowers and walking paths to explore.
